Move Forward When You Feel Stuck: 6 Wonderful Tips to remember
“Tears are rolling over my cheeks. There I was on my couch, devastated. All my efforts went in vain. I did everything to make it work. What did I do wrong? Why do I need to go through all this pain? So many questions flew through my mind. All painful incidents of my past flashed before my eyes. Making I sink deeper and deeper into sorrow. My self-worth hit its low. Life stared at me like a giant monster ready to swallow me. I could not see any way forward.”
I have been in such lows at many times. Not knowing how to move forward. Have you ever been so focused in on something and you completely lost yourself in it? Have you ever lost the things you most passionately cared about? Life is like that. We need to sail through many unexpected turns and twists in life.
Here are six things to remember that help you move forward when you feel stuck.
1. No pain, no gain
“There are no gains without pains.” – Benjamin Franklin
How does a child learn walking? When a child falls, it does hurt him. But he never gives up till he masters it. Everything in our life has a purpose. So is the pain. Sometimes pain forces us to take a different direction in life. Pain acts as a pressure point helping us move forward.
2. Learn from each failure
“Failure is a success if we learn from it.” – Malcolm Forbes
Move on from the failure, but never forget the lesson it taught us. Each failure teaches us something. Focus on the learning, rather than the pain. After all, each setback is just giving us feedback so that we can take the next step more wisely.
3. Do not Give Up
“Never, never, never give up.” – Winston Churchill
Before success comes in our life, we are sure to meet with defeat. Never allow it to overtake you and quit. Most of the successful people had encountered failures just before they achieved success. Thomas Edison had 1,000 unsuccessful attempts before inventing the light bulb. Edison said about those failures: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 1,000 ways that won’t work.”
Sometimes we have to go backward and start again. We might need to go through the worst to arrive at our best. Never give up, success might be just a step away.
4. Nothing lasts forever
“The bad news is nothing lasts forever, the good news is nothing lasts forever.” – J. Cole
Always remember that this phase of struggle also will pass. Change is inevitable, and this world changes every moment. The night never lasts forever; it has to give its way to a new morning. No setbacks in our life will last forever.
5. Makes us stronger
“It is only in our darkest hours that we may discover the true strength of the brilliant light within ourselves that can never, ever, be dimmed.” – Doe Zantamata
Look at all our past struggles and failures. We have become stronger and a better version of ourselves with each struggle and failure. Never feel ashamed of the defeats, struggles. We are learning something new, conquering the pain, growing stronger with each failure.
6. Stop Worrying
“Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but never gets you anywhere.” – Erma Bombeck
It will be difficult not to worry while we are suffering. If we are failing also means we are doing something. We cannot achieve anything by worrying and complaining about what had happened. It is important to try changing our state. We can improve our state by taking a walk or listening to music or simply smile. Think about the next action instead of worrying.
What do you do to keep going at times of struggle? What makes you stay confident even when you have no idea on ways to move forward?
